FAO Global Forest Resources Assessment (FRA) provides essential information for understanding the extent of forest resources, their condition, management and uses.
The latest of these assessments, FRAexamines the status of, and trends in, more than 60 forest-related variables in countries and territories in the period – To provide a quality-controlled set of statistics on forest Forest Resources Assessment 1990 book and to complement the assessment based on country information, FRA implemented a remote-sensing survey.
The survey relied on statistical sampling (10 %) of the world's tropical forests through sample units located throughout the Pantropical zone.
The pan-tropical forest cover was 1, million ha at end and 1, million ha at end (this latter figure replaces the earlier estimate of 1, million ha provided by the FAO/UNEP Tropical Forest Resources Assessment project).
Thus, average annual deforestation during the past decade amounts to million ha ( percent in. Full text of "Forest Resources Assessment Tropical Countries Fao Forestry Paper " See other formats.
